Ohhhhh TWO-dles!!!

Needless to say...IT'S BEEN AWHILE--life has kept us very busy the last 6 months or so (when I say "life" I truly mean nursing school).  But we are still plugging along, growing, making memories, and enjoying all the little adventures this life seems to take us on.  I made a little promise to myself, that I would do better at keeping our blog updated through the summer, at least, until my unforgiving nursing school schedule starts back up again in the fall.  We've (ok, I've) made it a point to do as much as possible while school is out for the summer because God knows how limited things were in the "fun department" during my first semester of nursing school.  God bless my family (especially Brian) for putting up with all my shinanagens those 4 months!  But enough about that...!  Let's discuss better things like OWEN TURNING TWO!!!!

That's right...our little man turned TWO this month!  Due to Owen's OBSESSION with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, it was only right to have a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party.  We invited our closest friends and family to a local splash pad to run around in the water and enjoy some HOT DIGGITY DOGS in the sweltering heat.

Since Owen's list of food that he will eat is comprised of about 4-6 items, I used some of those foods as inspiration for the birthday party menu...Hot Diggity Dogs (which he won't touch) Two-dles Noodles (Macaroni and Cheese), Goofy Grapes,
Minnie Carrots and Celery (I think he will eat an occasional stalk of celery) and Chips and Dale (Cheeeps, as Owen calls them), and let's not forget the Pluto Punch (we can't go a day without having a juice box or two).

I had a friend from work make the Mickey Cake Pops.  Unfortunately, they didn't survive the HOT weather conditions we experienced that day...
Hence...the Micky MOUSE-ACRE

Brian was the only reason Owen went into the water

The Birthday Song went A LOT better this year than it did last year!  Owen actually relished in everyone singing "Happy Birthday to You". He kept looking and me and smiled as our family and friends serenaded him on his big day :)

Owen (and Mommy) blowing out his candles.  We actually had to light them twice because a gust of wind blew them out the first time.
Owen tackling the gifts...and there were A LOT
But we got stuck on this one gift FOREVER...thank you Uncle Collin, Aunt Meghan, and Ian for the awesome GUITAR!  We had to time out from the gift opening for about 15 minutes because he refused to open anything after the guitar

But then he saw the box for this hot little number and present opening resumed!

Taking a breather and drinking some water on his new camping chair
Here are some more pictures of some of his favorite presents...I must say though, he is playing with EVERYTHING he received this year for his birthday.
He loves his new trike that he got from his Grandpa Dave (or  "Pa" as he likes to call him)

and the Pizza Pie set was a HIT...now if only we could actually get him to eat pizza in real life

Owen drove his Cozy Coupe for hours upon hours the night of his birthday, he even insisted upon taking his dinner  while at the wheel of the car.
