Happy Birthday Brian!

This year Thanksgiving wasn't just a day to give thanks for all the things that we are truly grateful for, nor was it a day of massive turkey overload (well maybe just a little), it was BRIAN'S BIRTHDAY!  It was a DOUBLE special day in our house and Brian made sure to let everyone know it too. :)

Happy Birthday!  I hope that you had an exception day filled with A LOT of food, family, and fun!  When else can you cram a house with 14 people, smoke a ginormous Thanksgiving bird, and fill your tummy to your heart's delight?!?!?

Happy 5 Months to my little Bugs!!

Can you believe that Owen is 5 months old already?!?!  Well, I can't believe it!!  It's absolutely crazy to me that JUST 5 months ago this little critter blessed my life in so many inexplicable ways!  How is it possible to have SO much fun with a little 15 (or so ) pound, 25 inch creature??  I don't know...but we sure manage to do it every single minute of every single day! AND how is it possible that we've gone from THAT...
to THIS...
????
Happy 5 months, baby!  We love you so much!

Happy FALL, y'all!!

Wow...I can't believe that it's OCTOBER already!  This is quite possibly my FAVORITE time of the year.  I love everything about Fall...the leaves changing colors, the cooler temperatures (though we wouldn't know anything about cooler temperatures just yet), Halloween, and the smell of pumpkin drifting through my house.  I definitely have the baking bug and as soon as Owen wakes from his nap we're headed to the grocery store so we can add to the pumpkin aroma with some of my delicious Pumpkin Cookies.  Harrison and Andrew are going to love me when they get home from school tomorrow :)

As we step into October that means 2011 will soon be winding down.  Time really does fly when you're having SO much fun.  Owen is right on the heels of being 4 months old and gets more animated as the days go on.  He wakes up a totally different baby each and every day, not to mention, CHUBBIER!!  It's completely amazing to me that such a small creature can bring so much joy into ALL of our lives.  I feel extremely lucky to be able to watch him discover new things in this big BIG world and reach all of his baby milestones one after another.  It really has been a gift for me to be his Stay-at-Home Mommy during his first precious months.  I don't want to miss a single thing this little guys does.  I know it may sound cliche, but being a mommy is truly that most rewarding thing that I have ever done.  All the little sacrifices that have to be made in order for me to be home with him will all be worth it in the end.  Those precious little coos and giggles mean way more to me than anything else right now.  Nothing can take the place of us dancing around the house and singing songs at the top of my lungs in order to hear his hilarious laugh.  And there isn't a person out there that can sing "Hot Potato Hot Potato..." better than I can, though I don't see myself being the next American Idol anytime soon.  What better time to be home with my little guy then during the start of the holiday season.  I can't wait to take the family to Owen's first Pumpkin Patch, his first corn maze, and his first venture out trick-or-treating.  I REALLY can't wait to capture it all with my camera!

With that being said...on to the pictures...
Fall means FOOTBALL and in this house we BLEED RED.  GO UTES!

"The sun is shining...the weather is sweet..."

September...already?!?!  Well the dog days of summer are no longer upon us, sadly, they are here.  I have been trying to hold on to every last inch of summer that I can with my mid-morning runs with my trusty little sidekick to enjoying the warm summer evenings on the patio with our family.   We've had such a wonderful summer and I'm sad to see it go.  Unfortunately, this mommy heads back to work next week so my summer comes to a close with some great memories of all the fun things we've gotten to do this summer especially with our newest addition to the Sucher Clan.
There is so much to share from the past 4 weeks, I don't even know where to begin...

Harrison and Andrew headed back to school a week ago and are definitely back into the swing of things again.  Can you believe Harrison is a freshman?!?!  This will be their last year together at South Ogden Junior High before Harrison ventures off to high school next year.  Ugh...I can't even think about it...driving...girlfriends...ACTs...I'm having nightmares just thinking about it!  :) I do have to say, they are the cutest and sweetest BIG brothers to Owen that I have ever seen.  It's almost like they cruise through their days at school just so they can rush home to play with Owen.  What a lucky boy to have such AWESOME big brothers to look after him.  I can just imagine all the fun they are going to have with him when he gets to be a few months older.

Harrison and Andrew weren't the only boys on the move this summer.  Owen has been a mover and a shaker all on his own too.  On Friday, August 26th, Owen rolled from his tummy to his back for the first time!!  It was such an exciting moment (more so for Mommy than for Owen), in fact, it was so exciting that I made him do it over, and over, and over!  Of course, Mommy didn't have the camera on hand the first time he rolled but she sure got pictures AND video the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and well (I think you get the point) 5th time around.
Owen rolling over!

and this was the look I got after he rolled over

This rolling over business has definitely made tummy-time a whole new experience for Owen.  I didn't think the day would come where I could say that my child LOVES tummy-time BUT now Owen really does LIKE tummy-time.  I actually get smiles and some giggles out of him now when we're playing on our tummies.  Instead of a 2 minute tummy-time session we play on our tummy every chance we can get.  It amazes me how strong he is getting.  We'll have him crawling in no time!
Owen giggling because he caught the monkey

AND Owen loves Loves LOVES taking a bath now!  He loves to kick and splash and play with all his bath toys.  Bath time is so much fun now.  I'm usually soaking wet by the end of it but as long as this child loves to take a bath I don't mind.  Now he cries when tubby-time is over and we have to dry him off.  I take those tears over the "I hate the bath" tears any day of the week.

don't you just love how chubby he is getting?!?!?
So what else is this family doing when we're not riding horses, playing in the river, rolling over, and taking a bath??  We're watching baseball...that's what!

Ok, so Uncle Collin and Andrew were there too

It's time to say farewell to summer and welcome the fall with open arms.  Fall is my most favorite time of the year.  I can't wait to share all the fall-tastic things we'll be doing in the coming season.  I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but I already have Owen's Halloween costume all picked out!!

So long for now, I'm being summoned by Mr. Short Pockets...it's time to eat!

2 MONTHS OLD!!

I can't believe it...I have a 2 month old today!!!  Or maybe it's that I can't believe I have survived 8 weeks of mommyhood.  I have to say, I am feeling less and less like a befuddled beginner and more the "okay I can handle this" veteran.

I'm 2 MONTHS today!!
I shed a few tears today when I looked back on all the photos I have taken of Owen since the day he was born and saw how much he as changed.  How is that possible?!?  How is it possible that my little turkey has changed so much in 8 weeks time?!  And he has gotten so BIG!  Not to mention he has also reached all of his little "2 Month Milestones" one by one.  I just watch EVERYTHING he does because I don't want to miss a thing.  Some of the milestones aren't hard to miss like his SMILE...boy does he have a smile that just melts your heart!  It's not a just a random smile anymore; Owen smiles in response to everone else's smile.  It's so adorable! He likes to squeal and vocalizes in ways other than crying.  Baby O is also reaching for objects which makes play time so much more fun.  He's always reaching for the toys dangling over his head when he's on his Flying Circus Playmat.  His tummy-time still needs a little work though.  This child hates tummy-time, I mean absolutely despises tummy-time.  He gets so mad and tummy-time only lasts a few minutes before he has a complete meltdown.   Hopefully he'll start to enjoy it as we venture on down the weeks leading up to 3 months.

Tummy-time on one of his better days
This little guy is also getting pretty good at holding his head steady when he is upright, although, he as been doing that since he was like 2 weeks old.  It just amazes me how fast he has progressed from an adorable but unresponsible blob to this active and extremely alert little man.

I'm also still waiting for bath time to be a little more pleasant as well.  We have our good days (where Mommy is singing every song in the book like a maniac to distract Owen from what is really going on) and we have our bad days (where the screams sounds like Owen is being drawn and quartered in the bathroom)  When do babies start to love taking a bath and refusing to get out of the tub?!?!  Will we ever get to those days??

Grandma Christy giving Baby O his first sponge bath at home
Mommy giving him his first bath in the tub...he's a little upset

This was taken just last week...his love or lack thereof for the tub has not changed from Day 1
This is a little better! From the look on his face I was probably singing "Row Row Row Your Boat" like a mad person to distract him from being in the tub

Well, we're off to the pediatrician tomorrow for Owen's 2 Month Check-up.  Wish us luck...I don't know who will be crying more from the immunizations...Mommy or Owen!
We'll leave you with some pictures of Owen's Adventures from the last 8 weeks.  What a lucky boy to be out and about so much.  Ohhhh...the things we have in store for the next 4 weeks...

Welcome to The Sucher Four Plus One More!

Hi all!!

Welcome to The Sucher Family Blog!  Since our family and friends are scattered all over the country we thought this would be a fun way to keep everyone updated on the happenings with the Sucher Family, ESPECIALLY with our newest addition, Owen Luis Sucher.

Owen was born on June 9, 2011 at 3:16 am
Yep...those numbers are correct!  Owen weighed 4 lbs. 15 oz. and was 18 inches long

Owen is just 5 days away from being 2 MONTHS OLD!!  We can't believe it!  It feels like yesterday that we were holding a 4 lb. 15 oz. little munchkin.  Those days are long gone.  We have a little "Chubby Checkers" on our hands now!  At his last weight check on July 18th, Owen was tipping the scale at 8 LBS.!!  Is anyone willing to guess what his weight will be next week at his 2 month check-up???

So much has happened since this little guy blessed our lives with his arrival.  We've been on so many adventures in these two short months.  In the coming week we'll try to get everyone up to speed on all that we have done.  Owen has seen the arts, listened to some amazing music, and played in the fresh mountain air up in Sun Valley.  Having a newborn baby doesn't slow this family down!  Stay tuned to read all about it...

We're new to the blog scene but we are so excited to let you in on all our stories.  It's going to be such a pleasure to share it all with you.  Enjoy!

He is just so precious and perfect in every way
